At the Beach
At the Beach
idea to the beginning of Summer! : ) I took off today. It’s the first day, in nearly three years, that I took off just for “me”. I knew rain was in the forecast, and that is just what I wanted. I’ve been doing digging and planting, so Mother Nature is providing a drink for everything – thank you!!! And, I have the best reason to stay inside and…do something sewing!!!
My Oakshott cottons, hand dyed, Kaffe, Amy Butler, Loni Rossi, Perfect Circles, Sharpee marker, poster-tack, freezer paper, scissors, threads, iron, Kim McLean pattern, you get the idea, are ALL unpacked and available. Hot diggity dog!!!
I got the design traced onto freezer paper this morning and will begin to cut out the shapes. Then the FUN begins…choosing the fabrics. I am seriously doing the twinkle-toed-HaPpY-dance!!!
May the start to your Summer, or at least your (Holiday) weekend, be enjoyable too!
And, here is our garden project…
Scott is building the fence and I have been doing a bit of vegetable planting inside. It’s coming along. And, that “gate” is an old piece of wrought iron fence from Scott’s Dad’s barn. Duke passed 6+ years ago. He loved the Beach and gardening. We would like to think he is pleasantly surprised… ; ) And, we’re not sure yet, but that gate may get painted Exotic Sea in the future.
and a trip to Ikea…
We have been indecisive about the book cases, modular storage or window seating we wish to use in the studio. This is VERY unlike us. We usually KNOW precisely what we want. Somehow, at this juncture, we’ve been able to articulate what we don’t want and then stalled.
Scott said, “Let’s keep it simple. Stick with something we know. And make a decision.” He measured. Then he browsed the online Ikea catalog while I was at work. He made notes, and after work, we looked at choices and options (up on the big screen).
The following day we took a trip back to familiar territory…
This may not be the longterm solution, but it is an affordable, useful, functional intermediate launch. We will assemble and use these pieces. Evaluating our storage and use needs while continuing to evolve our space. ; )
P.S. We’ve heard from Russell. A BIG project of his finishes up in a few days. He’ll be able to move our project forward, hopefully to completion, before too long. We are looking forward to sails and a mud room!!!
